Banks profit rates

KARACHI, July 5: Bank Al-Habib has announced 9pc profit on saving accounts and 5pc profit on 7-day notice deposits for the half year, ending June 30, 2002.

The bank has announced a profit of 7.5pc on one month; 8pc on three months; 8.5pc on six months; 10pc on one year; 10.25pc on two years; 10.50pc on three years; 10.75pc on four years and 11pc on five years.

Under Al-Habib Mahana Amdani schemes, the bank has announced 9.5pc profit on one year; 9.75pc on two years; 10pc on three years; 10.25pc on four years and 10.5pc on five years.

BANK OF CEYLON: Bank of Ceylon has announced 7pc profit on saving deposits and 6pc profit on 7-29 days deposits for the half year, ending June 30, 2002.

The bank has announced 9pc profit on one month; 9.5pc on three months; 10pc on six months; 10.5pc on one year and 11.5pc on two years.

The bank has also announced 11pc profit on Ceybank golden deposit scheme that requires the savers to put in at least Rs5m in it.
