QUETTA The Raisani Qaumi Ittehad ceased to exist when its chief Mir Wadood Raisani announced the party's merger with the Baloch Republican Party at a press conference here on Wednesday.
At the same press conference, an executive committee member of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal), Naila Qadari, announced that she had joined the BRP.
The two leaders called upon other political groups to merge in a single party to strengthen the struggle for the rights of the Balochs. They said without a united movement, Balochs would not be able to fulfil the dream of the late Nawab Akbar Bugti of protecting the coast and resources of Balochistan.
Wadood Raisani said that Nawab Bugti had dreamt of uniting all Baloch political groups at a single platform for a joint struggle. He said Nawab Bugti, Balaach Marri and hundreds of other Baloch people sacrificed their lives for freedom, and not for parliamentary politics.
Naila Qadari said she left the BNP-M to strengthen BRP and the resistance movement. She reposed confidence in the leadership of Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti.
Welcoming the RQI merger and Naila Qadari's joining of BRP, party's vice-president Mohammad Anwar and secretary-general Dr Bashir Azim said the decisions were wise and timely and would strengthen the resistance movement.
They said that about 1,000 Baloch people had been detained by intelligence agencies or were missing. The party was collecting the data of missing persons in Balochistan.
They said atrocities or military operation could not suppress the political struggle of Baloch people for freedom. The time of dialogue with the government or parliamentary politics had passed, they said, adding that the only way for Balochs now was to wage a united struggle against the 'oppressors'.
