Two NGOs working without staff

BAHAWALPUR, July 3: The district government monitoring committee raided on Wednesday two NGOs Al-Kausar in Satellite Town and Nigheban in Model Town allegedly running without staff.

The committee recommended in its report action against these NGOs which, according to it, had been working without staff and not utilizing funds worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The committee raided the offices of NGOs over alleged appropriation of funds offered to them by the government and foreign donor agencies for social work.

ARRESTED: Local police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested two outlaws near Mauza Israri, on the Hasilpur Road, some 50km from here.

On a tip-off, police raided a hideout to arrest outlaw Riaz Rath who escaped. However, the police arrested his two accomplices Aziz Baluch and Ghulam Husain.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have held 24 people with two kalashnikoves and as many rifles.
