LARKANA, June 3: The Sindh Abadgar Board (SAB), Shahdadkot, has given a call for a protest rally on Thursday to draw the government’s attention towards the acute shortage of water.

Ishaque Mugihri, general secretary, SAB, Larkana District, while talking to this correspondent on Tuesday, said that almost all the irrigation channels and tributaries, which originated from the Saifullah Magsi branch and the Shahdadkot branch, were without water.

He said that the Qubo, Dhori, Shahbaig, Imdad minor, Patooja, Noorpur, and Gandakha tributaries, and the off-shoots of the Saifullah Magsi branch had completely dried up.

Haroon Soomro, Naib Nazim, Shahdadkot, said that all the Nazims of Shahdadkot Taluka would observe hunger strike from Friday in protest against the shortage of water.

He said thousands of acres of farmland in Shahdadkot Taluka have not been provided irrigation water for growing paddy crops and the majority of the population of the area needed water badly.
