KARACHI, July 2: The provincial minister for health and population welfare, Ahsan Ahmed, has directed the director general of Health Services, Sindh, to formulate an integrated service structure regarding promotion of specialist doctors, such as those of general and teaching cadres.

The minister issued the directives at a high-level meeting on Tuesday. The DG Health, Dr Fateh Mohammed, gave him a detailed briefing on the proper service structure of specialist doctors’ cadre.

It was decided in the meeting that as per directions of the health minister, a proper cadre should be established in all Taluka, district and civil hospitals, so that specialist doctors could equally avail the opportunity of promotion from Grade 17 to 20. Establishing a specialist cadre in teaching hospitals and special institutes was also discussed.

Mr Ahmed further directed the DG and secretary of health that the project requires a lot of work and while going through the points discussed in the meeting, a service structure should be made so that specialist doctors could avail equal opportunities of promotion.

The secretary of health, Khalid Latif Chaudhry; additional secretary, Capt Abdul Majid and additional secretary (development), Dr Sari Chand Ochani were also present.—PPI
