GILGIT, July 1: The Northern Light Infabtry (NLI) have replaced the Qasim Rangers deployed at Sost Customs checkpost near China border, informed sources told Dawn on Monday.

The personnel of 15th Regiment of the NLI have formally taken the charge at the checkpost on Saturday.

The officials, however, declined to explain the reasons behind deployment of 15-NLI personnel in place of the Rangers.

The Qasim Rangers were removed from the area after a strong protest by the traders and political groups of the area over the highhandednes of the rangers.
