Appolo Club lift trophy

LAHORE, Nov 1: Fine batting by Ikramullah (83) helped Appolo Club defeated a star-studded P and T Gymkhana by 74 runs to clinch the LCCA invitation inter-club tournament at the LCCA ground Thursday.

Batting first, Appolo Club piled up 247 for nine in the allotted 40 overs. In reply, P and T Gymkhana, despite having the services of young guns Imran Nazir and Salim Elahi, were bundled out for 173 in 36.4 overs.

Ikramullah laced his innings with 12 boundaries and was adjudged Man-of-the-Final. Mohammad Saeed, also of the winning side, was adjudged as the best fielder of the final.

Besides Ikramullah, other chief scorers for the Appolo Club were Ayoub Dogar (32, three fours), Kashif Rasheed (27, three fours, one six), Tariq Aziz (21 three fours).

For P and T Gymkhana, Waqas Ahmad was the top wicket-taker with four for 38. Imran Tahir claimed two wickets for 36.

When P and T Gymkhana batted, Salim Shahzad (45, four fours) and Adil Nisar (44, three fours) were the only two batsmen who offered some significant resistance. Imran Nazir (9) and Salim Elahi (5) disappointed their fan club with poor batting display.

Raza Khan and Mamoon Khan took two wickets each for 27 and 44 runs respectively.
