BAHAWALPUR, Nov 1: CIA police on Thursday lifted three activists of Jaish Muhammad in a crackdown against suspects of the church carnage, it is learnt.
Asif, Rashid and Asim were taken into custody from an electric store on the Circular Road.
When contacted, the police officials remained tight-lipped.
Police teams have been sent to other cities to comb the hideouts of terrorists. One of the teams has been sent to Karachi following an information provided by some of the suspects rounded up after the incident.
Police have also taken into custody one Dr. Zahid who runs a public call office near Library Chowk. It is claimed that on Monday, some unidentified persons had faxed a message to a Multan daily from this PCO saying the Lashkar-i-Umar had accepted the responsibility for the killings.
Meanwhile, an amount of Rs3.2 million has been received by the local DCO office for distribution among legal heirs of the victims of the church tragedy.
STOLEN WHEAT SEIZED: An army team on Thursday raided a flour mills near Uch Sharif, about 70km from here, and recovered the wheat stolen from procurement centres of the Food Department.
Reportedly, a food inspector, Athar Shah, had sold some 120 wheat bags to the Madina Flour Mills and made fictitious entries in the official record.
Army officials have sealed the mills and registered a case against the food inspector, mills owner Muhammad Aslam and his manager, Irshad.
