SUKKUR, Nov 1: Bugti Colony Police Station, Jacobabad, was handed over to the Frontier Constabulary and patrolling of FC men on Sindh-Balochistan border intensified.
The measures have been taken in the aftermath of the attack launched by a bunch of Bugti tribesmen on the police station during which one police constable died and 42 sophisticated weapons including light machine guns and sub-machine guns were looted.
A high level meeting of senior military and police officials held at Pano Aqil Cantonment on Thursday reviewed the overall law and order situation of the interior Sindh specially with reference to armed attack by the Bugti tribals on the police station where eight police officials on duty could not offer any resistance to the attackers.
The meeting also discussed as to why the five policemen fled the scene and spread a concocted a story that they had been kidnapped.
According to the official sources, three special teams were formed to investigate the whole matter and initiate action against the outlaws.
The army officials specially stressed the need to ensure the recovery of the arms and ammunition at all costs and identify the gang members involved in the attack.
The DIGs of Sukkur and Larkana briefed the meeting about the overall situation and assured the army officials that the attackers would be rounded up soon.
In this regard, one dozen people were arrested from Kashmore, Jacobabad and Kandhkot on the alleged charges of connivance with the dacoits who crossed over to Sindh from Balochistan.
The low-cadre police officials were contacting the influential persons of Balochistan and Sindh to help recover the arms.
