KARACHI, March 13 Karachi Dolphins and Multan Tigers maintained their unbeaten run in the RBS National One-day Cup cricket tournament after winning their respective matches on Friday.

Karachi Dolphins, inspired by a century from skipper Khalid Latif, defeated Rawalpindi Rams by six wickets at the National Stadium, while Multan Tigers chalked up a five-wicket victory over Hyderabad Hawks at the Municipal Sports Complex in Mirpurkhas.

In the day`s other Group `A` fixture, Abbottabad Rhinos thrashed Quetta Bears by a convincing margin of 130 runs at the UBL Sports Complex here.

After being put in to bat, Rawalpindi Rams overcame a horrendous start, when they were reduced to 83-5 in 18 overs, to reach 268-9 in the allotted 50 overs. Usman Saeed (109 off 133 balls, nine fours) and Zahid Mansoor (74 off 88 balls, three sixes and two fours) added 156 for the sixth wicket.

Ex-Test fast bowler Mohammad Sami (3-67) and Khalid Mahmood (5-56) shared the bowling honours for the Dolphins.Khalid Latif (105 off 124 balls, seven fours and two sixes) and Ali Asad (57 off 80 balls, four boundaries) then laid the foundation for their team`s victory by adding 142 for the opening wicket. Asad Shafiq`s run-a-ball 43 with four fours and Afsar Nawaz (31 not out) also made useful contributions.

Hyderabad Hawks made 253 for eight against Multan Tigers with opener Aqeel Anjum (74 off 104 balls, eight fours) and Mohammad Urs (58 not out off 40 balls, eight fours and one six) the main run-getters.

The Tigers, however, made light work of that target by achieving victory with no less than eight overs to spare.Abbottabad Rhinos made a mockery of Quetta Bears skipper Irfan Ismail`s decision to field first by piling up 294-9 with opener Hammad Ali Shah (81 off 119 balls, four fours and one six) and Riaz Kail (71 off 56 balls, nine fours) leading the way. The Bears, in reply, were bundled out for 164 in the 37th over.

Meanwhile, matches in the other three groups have been postponed until March 21 because of uncertain political situation in the Punjab.
