PESHAWAR, June 24: Singers on the occasion of the launching ceremony of FM-101 channel from the Peshawar Centre enthralled a big audience here on Sunday night.

The musical concert, held in connection with the launching of the FM-101 channel of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), from the Peshawar Centre, was also broadcast live from the centre.

Minister for Information and Media Development Nisar A Memon, who inaugurated the channel earlier in the day, remained present till the end of the concert.

Senior singer Hina Siddiqui, who made special appearance, sang her famous numbers. She was well-received by the jampacked hall, who appreciated every bit of the proceedings with great generosity. The next singer also from Rawalpindi was Naima Mushtaq who sang national songs in perfectly professional style. She stole much of the limelight because she was impressive in front of the Pakhtun listeners who gave an standing ovation to her.

During the intervals, comperes Nargis Rashid and Tauseeq Haider kept narrating the history of the PBC. They informed the audience about the gradual progress of the PBC since its inception. There was no boredom because both Tauseeq and Nargis invited the singers without wasting time. The good sound system was also a reason due to which the concert went on smoothly.

The spellbinding performance came from the local singer Gul Rez Tabbasum who also sang his famous Pashto numbers and got applaud from the entertainment-starved Pakhtuns. His funny gesticulations got appreciation from all those present there.

Next was another local diva, Mashooq Sultan who showed her experience in the field of music by singing folk stuff. She was also appreciated by all and sundry. Mashooq Sultan has been singing for the past 30 years and has become a household name in this part of the world. Singing in the company of Gul Rez, there was pin-drop silence all over the place.

The little singer, Nazia Iqbal, was also impressive as usual. Her sonorous voice also got receptive ears.
