KARACHI, Feb 15 Defending champions Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) completed an emphatic innings and 90-run victory over Karachi Whites to keep their hopes of reaching next month`s Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship final.

SNGPL`s three-day win on Sunday at the NBP Sports Complex was their fourth in the competition and put them in second spot 12 points behind Group `A` leaders National Bank.

Karachi Whites, who faced a deficit of 267 on the first innings, folded up for 177 in the second innings with just skipper Khalid Latif (71) fighting it out.

Meanwhile, matches disrupted by rain in the upcountry finally started with one of them already finishing after both Rawalpindi and Quetta opted to forfeit their respective first innings at the Marghazar Ground in Islamabad.

Put into bat, Quetta crashed to 41 all out inside 14 overs before Rawalpindi knocked off the runs in just 6.4 overs to win by nine wickets. The customary report to the PCB from match referee Khateeb Rizwan could become a bone of contention for teams in Group `B` who are bidding to finish on top of the standings to make the final. By this unexpected victory over winless Quetta, Rawalpindi have moved three points ahead of Sialkot, who are currently second with 42 points. But unlike Rawalpindi, Sialkot still have a game in hand.

By close of play, Lahore Ravi were 196-3.

Banned Pakistan all-rounders Abdul Razzaq and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan celebrated comebacks to domestic cricket in style for their respective teams.

Razzaq hit 98 (112 balls, eight fours and four sixes) to help ZTBL take a big lead of 237 runs over Pakistan Customs at the Sheikhupura Stadium.
