HYDERABAD, June 20: The Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STPP) has condemned the police excesses against growers and haris of Shah Bandar who had staged a peaceful protest demonstration against the acute shortage of water.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the general secretary of the party, Dr Hameed Memon, and party spokesman Muzaffar Kalhoro said the police should be ashamed of resorting to indiscriminate firing on the peaceful protesters.

It was an irony that live bullets were fired on the people who were demanding water, they said.—Bureau
