PESHAWAR, June 18: The NWFP government has handed over three branches of the City Development and Municipal Department (CDMD) to the district government, which are fetching the city government Rs100 million.

The four general bus stands, two municipal schools and colleges (one for boys and one for girls), and municipal property, which had been under the CDMD’s control, had been entrusted to the local government on June 10, director general of the CDMD, Malik Mohammad Saad Khan, told Dawn here on Tuesday.

According to him, the government had already been requested to relieve the CDMD from the charge of the said branches, which was approved by the government.

According to Mr Saad, after the provincial government’s decision to hand over the control of the three branches to the district government, which were hitherto controlled by the CDMD on behalf of the district government, would give more time to his department to fully concentrate on the Regi Lalma Housing Society and other mega projects being launched in the city.

Now, the Nazim-i-Aala would look after the affairs of these three branches of the district government, which are earning an amount of Rs100 million annually.
