LAHORE, June 12: The district police and NWFP CID on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three people who kidnapped a trader for Rs10 million ransom from Peshawar a couple of days back.

A Punjab police spokesman said traders Muhammad Farooq and Muhammad Asam were going to Sialkot by a car when four people intercepted them and snatched Rs300,000 in cash and two mobile phones from them on June 4.

The gang took the traders with them. Near Muridke police station, Asam jumped out of the car with the rifle of the kidnappers and informed the police about the incident.

Sialkot SSP constituted different teams to arrest the culprits. On a tip-off, the police and NWFP CID team raided the hideout of the kidnappers and arrested them.

The teams also got freed the trader.

The spokesman said the gang did not free the trader even after receiving the ransom.

Those arrested had been identified as Ashfaq, Jahanzeb Khan and Shahzad.

The police teams were conducting raids to arrest the remaining members of the gang , the spokesman added.—APP
