KARACHI, June 12: Unidentified motorcyclists shot a truck driver to death in Landhi on late Tuesday night.

The police said that Syed Riaz Husain Shah, aged 40, was on way to National Refinery in his pick-up truck (LSA-507) when two men, riding on a motorcycle, tried to intercept him on the main road in Sector 36-B near Hyder Ali Chowk in Landhi.

Quoting Riaz’s nephew Abdul Hafeez Shah, who was accompanying him then, the police said that the two motorcyclists told Riaz to stop the vehicle. As he increased the speed of the vehicle, the men opened fire on him. As he was hit by bullets, the pick-up went out of control, collided with another vehicle and stopped.

The assailants escaped on the motorcycle, Hafeez told the police.

Riyaz was rushed to the government hospital in Korangi No 5, from where he was referred to JPMC where he died.
