TOBA TEK SINGH, June 11: The Punjab government has empowered officials of the 29 districts in the province to approve installation of petrol filling stations.

This was stated at a meeting of the officials here on Tuesday.

It is learnt the approval of petrol pumps in Multan, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Faisalabad will be dealt by the provincial government.

The participants were informed that the district governments had been directed to dispose of NOC’s applications for the installation of petrol pumps within three months. In case of rejecting the applications, the committee would be bound to apprise the applicants of the reasons for rejection.

Most of the petrol pumps on the Rajana-Kamalia and Toba-Gojra roads had no proper fire fighting arrangements and the department had already sent challans to 15 pumps, it is learnt.

GRANT: Japan has provided a financial assistance for the construction of roads in the district.

Sources told this correspondent on Tuesday the district government would soon start the project.
