KOHAT, June 11: The district government has decided to hold the national horse and cattle show for three days instead of one, from next year, for creating awareness about “our cultural heritage and more recreational opportunities for the people.”

This was stated by district Nazim Malik Asad while speaking at the closing ceremony of the national horse and cattle show held in Kharmatu on Tuesday.

He said such shows were necessary for promoting healthy activities among the farmers and need promotion and support of the government.

Thousands of people, who had gathered at the venue, enjoyed the oxen race, which was participated by teams from Kohat, Islamabad, Attock, Rawalpindi, Haripur and Azad Kashmir.

The pairs of Sardar Iqbal Khan Lund of Fateh Jang, Mirza Sakhawat of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Shaukat Hayat of Gali Jagir, Chaudhry Fayyaz of Azad Kashmir and Haji Walayat Khan of Kohat achieved first, second, third, fourth and fifth position in the race, respectively.
