GLASLOUGH (Ireland), June 10: Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and his fiancee were all smiles on Monday on the eve of their “rock ‘n’ roll” wedding in a spectacular Irish castle.

McCartney, 59, due to marry former model Heather Mills, 34, in a lavish ceremony on Tuesday, is expected to speak to the world’s media later outside the wedding venue — the rambling 17th century Castle Leslie in the tiny village of Glaslough.

The rock legend and his fiancee arrived on Sunday by helicopter on the castle’s 1,000-acre estate in County Monaghan where elaborate preparations have been under way for days.

“They are very smiley, very happy,” McCartney spokesman Geoff Baker said. “They look like a couple of teenagers about to be wed.” Baker said there was no dress code and that while the menu was vegetarian it would also be “very liquid and alcoholic”.

Baker said the British magazine “Hello” had offered 1.5 million pounds ($2.2 million) for exclusive rights to photos of the event but that the couple had decided to sell pictures for 1,000 pounds each through an agency and donate proceeds to the charity Adopt A Minefield UK.—Reuters
