SIALKOT, June 9: The kidnappers of a youth demanded Rs10 million ransom.

Four unidentified men reportedly kidnapped Asim Nadeem, the son of exporter Nadeem Shaikh, along with his car (STM-4) from Motra two days ago.

They reportedly called the family by phone on Sunday and demanded ransom for Asim’s release.

BEATEN UP: Police claimed that a Motra police station team was beaten up by the accomplices of an alleged proclaimed offender in Chohd Chak, Sambrial, on Sunday.

Police raided the village after receiving information that proclaimed offender Shahzad Alias Shehzadu was hiding in the dera of councillor Amin Khan.

Police claimed that the team was kept hostage for about an hour and beaten up by Shahzad himself, councillor Amin, Allah Ditta, Allah Rakha, Faryad, Zuber, Labha, Majid Khan, Rashid Khan, Ramzan, Idrees and four unidentified people. They tore their uniforms and snatched their weapons. Another police team was sent which rescued them.

ASI Munawar Khan, who was leading the team, and Constable Muhammad Safdar sustained serious injuries. The accused managed to escape from the scene.
