KARACHI, June 9: A young man and a small girl fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Sunday.

An 18-year-old boy died in a road accident in Preedy area.

The police said that Asif Khan was waiting for a Hyderabad-bound bus near City Shopping Mall when a speeding minibus of route Z-2 (PE-2902) knocked him down. He was rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The police said that the bus driver escaped, but they impounded the vehicle.

A small girl died in a road accident on Nishter Road. The police said that Hanee, aged seven, was run over by a speeding minibus. She was rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The bus driver escaped after the accident. The police impounded the minibus.

SHOT DEAD: A young man was shot dead and another wounded in a money dispute in SITE area on Sunday.

The police said that Yousuf Khan had recently got a job in a fish processing plant in SITE through Ghulam Husain, a security guard.

Ghulam secured the job for Yousuf on the promise that the latter would pay him some money after he got the job. On Sunday, Ghulam went to the residence of Yousuf near Khalid Bin Waleed mosque at Zia Colony in SITE and demanded the promised money.

There he had arguments with Yousuf and a friend of his. Ghulam took out a pistol and opened fire resulting in serious injuries to Yousuf and Mohammed Nawaz. Ghulam escaped.

They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced Yousuf dead on arrival. Nawaz had been admitted to the hospital, the police said.

KILLED: Unidentified assailants killed a eunuch in his house in Korangi Industrial Area in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The police said that eunuch Adnan, aged 23, and Ashfaq, aged 25, were asleep in their rented house in Gulzar Colony in sector-8 of Korangi Industrial Area, when unidentified men entered the house and attacked them with sharp-edged weapons. Hearing their cries, the landlord woke up and found them in a pool of blood.

They were rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced Adnan dead on arrival. Ashfaq was admitted to the hospital.

The police said that the assailants locked the door from outside while leaving the house.
