HYDERABAD, Oct 30: The first semester examination 2001-2002 in all the disciplines of the university will be conducted with effect from Nov 29.

This was decided at a meeting of the Deans committees, which was presided over by the vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by all deans of various faculties, Prof Ferozuddin Qazi, Dr Noor Mustafa Shaikh, Dr Mumtaz Bhutto, Dr Qazi Khadim Hussain, Prof A.R. Siddiqui, Director Admissions, M. Saleh Rajar, Provost Hostels Prof Bashir Ahmed Channar, Controller of Examinations, Prof Ali Murtaza Dharejo and other officers.

The meeting discussed a nine-point agenda and discussed ways to provide all possible facilities to the students at the campus.

To save valuable time of male and female students who are appearing in the first semester examination, the Deans Committee meeting decided that the condition for obtaining no dues certificates for submission along with examination forms should be withdrawn for this year, while from the second semester examinations the lists of clearance should be provided by the librarian and hostel administration. No student will visit any department for obtaining no dues certificates.

The meeting further decided that for submitting examination forms, the semester rules should be followed strictly, and without an admit card no student would be allowed to appear in the examination.

It also decided that additional bank counters would also be set up at the Habib Bank branch, Jamshoro, to facilitate the students for submitting examination fees.

The meeting approved the schedule for conducting the first semester examination in all disciplines under which examination forms from the department concerned will be issued with effect from Nov 5 to 12.

The last date for submitting examination forms duly countersigned by the chairperson/director was fixed as Nov 14.

The admit cards will be issued to the students latest by Nov 28, while the first semester examination in all departments will start with effect from Nov 29.

The meeting also discussed the issue of providing proper facilities of transport to the students. Besides, security measures at the campus during the examinations were discussed.

MEDICINE PAPER I: The Academic Council, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, at a special meeting held on Tuesday resolved to allow re-conducting of Medicine paper-I of final year MBBS students of the Lumhs which had been boycotted by the students on Aug 30.
