BAHAWALPUR, June 7: A man allegedly murdered his sister and two teenaged daughters in Abbasnagar, about 15 kilometres from here, on Friday.

Abbasnagar police said the murders were the outcome of exchange marriage.

They said due to some family dispute, Sahib Yar’s wife and his sister had returned to their respective parents’ houses.

His daughters, Irshad, 10, and Kulsoom, 8, asked their father to take them to their mother. In the meantime, his sister Ghulam Fatima, 20, also asked him to take her back to her husband. He became infuriated on their demand and allegedly murdered them.

The accused, while trying to flee from the scene, was hit by a truck and overpowered by the villagers who handed him over to police.

The injured was admitted to the Lal Sohanra Hospital.

Meanwhile, the bodies were handed over to the family after postmortem examination.
