PESHAWAR, June 6: Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, former president Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has criticized the ineffective implementation of the revised deletion policy announced in 1996 for car manufacturing industry.

In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, Bilour said that the deletion policy appeared to be a failure as there had been lesser deletion in the car industry as compared to others.

He said that in the other industries like tractors manufacturing the deletion was 84 per cent and 50 per cent in the bus and truck manufacturing.

He also said that due to low level of deletion, the vendor industry comprising 400 units was operating at only 30 per cent of its capacity.

Bilour has criticized the Indus Motor Company for eulogizing over their success because they too were unable to achieve maximum deletion.

The Indus Motor is still manufacturing auto components and it achieved continuous sales revenue around of Rs172.25 billion in the year 2001 which is expected to rise further this year.
