KARACHI: Land-grabbers arrested

KARACHI, June 6: The police arrested on Thursday members of two groups of land mafia who were claiming ownership of a piece of property in Saddar.

The police said that two groups had a dispute over a piece of property near Lucky Afridi Hotel on Allama Iqbal Road in Saddar.

On Thursday morning as an armed clash was about to take place between the two groups, someone informed the police on phone No 15.

Police mobiles and DSP Preedy Aijaz Hashmi reached the spot. After a standoff lasting for an hour, the police arrested Murad Afridi, Mehboob, Rahim Khan, Imran and Mohammed Yousaf and recovered one Kalashnikov rifle, one pistol and several rounds from their possession.

The police said that Mohammed Ayub and some other suspects escaped.
