APNS team visits LoC

MUZAFFARABAD, April 27: A high-level APNS team led by its President Hameed Haroon visited the front line posts of Pakistan army on Saturday on the Line of Control at Chakoti Sector.

The 30-member delegation was briefed in detail about the latest situation on the LoC, Pak army’s strategic plans and heavy shelling of the Indian troops on civilian areas of the AJK.

Brig Muhammad Yaqoob Khan told the team that during the year 1999 the Indian forces violated the LoC on 617 occasions, in 2000 on 756 occasions, in 2001 on 62 occasions while during the current year 25 times in this sector only.

These violations, he said, were reported to the UN observer mission which had claimed over 200 innocent civilian lived there. He said that only during the current year 26 persons had lost their lives while the damage to the properties was enormous.

He said the Pakistan army never started fire, yet they had to reply the fire to repulse the Indian attack to save the lives of their citizens.

The army Jawans were ever ready to challenge any misadventure by the enemy. Our forces were fully equipped and capable to defend every inch of their mother land, he added.—PPI
