Earth Day today

LAHORE, April 21: The International Earth Day is being observed on Monday with the theme “protect our home in whatever manner we can”.

In Lahore, the main activity will be a walk to be organized by the district environment office. Provincial environment minister Tariq Hameed and Lahore Nazim Mian Amer are expected to lead the walk from the Punjab Assembly to the Lawrence Garden.

Students from various city schools and people from all walks of life will attend the walk.

The environment office has also organized a speech competition among schoolchildren at Alhamra.

Meanwhile, the Caritas Pakistan has urged all its diocesan units and its local and international partners to observe the day and consider the sustainability of earth’s resources during the entire project cycle of programmes. —Staff Reporter
