KOHAT, April 17: The Kohat police seized three non-customs duty-paid vehicles which were being smuggled from Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency to Peshawar near Lachi city, 22 kilometres west of here on Wednesday.

The police stopped three vehicles — two coasters bearing numbers K-7627 and K- 6762 and a truck frame without number — near Lachi grid station. The market value of the seized vehicles is estimated at Rs 3.5 million.

The drivers failed to produce any valid documents of the vehicles after which they were also arrested.

They are: Gulzar, Azeem and Ayub all residents of Bannu.

Meanwhile, the staff of the Kotal check post foiled an attempt to smuggle tyres from Darra Adam Khel to down country and impounded the truck.

DYNAMITES: Police foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of ammunition and dynamites to Punjab from Darra Adamkhel and arrested one accused on Wednesday.

The police party on patrol signalled a truck to stop on the Indus Highway, but instead the driver sped away the vehicle. However, after a chase, the police forced the driver to stop the truck.
