MITHI, April 13: The deserving people of Mithi taluka, particularly the women and elderly, are facing difficulties in getting third instalment of their stipends under the Food Support Programme from local post office, owing to flawed policy and the poor management of the Bait-ul-Maal department.
Talking to Dawn on Friday in front of the post office, here, Ratni, wife of Rajo, resident of Gule-jo-Tar, Kheto Dohat, Chino, and other villagers alleged that despite waiting for three to four days and standing in queue outside the post office, none of them could receive Rs1,000 stipend.
Some of them who were residents of different villages said that being too poor they had no money to buy food and were facing starvation while they were waiting for the their stipends in Mithi Town.
Meanwhile, Tharparkar District Nazim Arbab Attaullah visited the post office the other day on the complaint of the Mustahqeen and expressed dissatisfaction at the slow, unplanned and non-transparent method of the distribution of Baitul Maal funds.
The Mustahqeen have appealed to the Baitul Maal authorities to take measures to make the distribution system easy and transparent so that the deserving people could get their stipends without facing inconvenience.
MEETING: A meeting of the district coordination committee for referendum 2002 was held here on Friday at the Karoonjhar Hall.
Tharparkar District Nazim Arbab Attaullah presided over the meeting which was attended by the taluka Nazims, EDOs and other government officers.
The district Nazim pointed out that the arrangements were being made for establishing polling stations and arranging transport facilities to facilitate the voters to cast their votes in the ensuing referendum.
The district Naib Nazim Ramsingh Sodho, Chhachhro Taluka Nazim Dost Ali Rahoomo, Diplo Taluka Nazim Arbab Zakaullah, Mithi Taluka Nazim Faqir Sher Mohammad Bilalani, DCO Pir Abdul Haq Jan Sarhandi, DPO Inayatullah Soomro, EDOs and other government officers participated in the meeting.
