GUJRANWALA, April 12: A civil judge on Friday issued stay order against the construction of a wagon stand in front of the municipal library in Gakkhar town.

Dawn learnt that the court also issued notices to the provincial minister for local government, district and tehsil Nazimeen and other respondents for April 17.

Wazirabad tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Shaukat Manzoor Cheema got bulldozed the boundary wall of the Gakkhar municipal library and ordered construction of the wagon stand to collect the adda fee.

The work on the construction of the stand in front of Muhammad Hassan Siddiqui memorial municipal library started immediately.

Meanwhile, all the literary and welfare organizations condemned the construction at the cost of library’s demolition.

However, Mr Cheema allegedly rejected the demand and kept construction continued.

Later, office-bearers of some organizations moved court through counsel Advocate Chaudhry Khalid Jamil and pleaded the plan should be declared invalid.
