KARACHI, April 11: After a tense battle of wits F.A. Naeem and Khalid Zaki edged out Shameem Yousuf and Shakil Chandna to win Karachi Club (KC) Monthly Bridge tournament at KC Bridge Hall Wednesday.

They won the title by the narrow margin of 0.50 Match Point. Shameem-Shakil led the group of East-West pairs throughout the sessions closely followed by Naeem-Khalid Zaki, Saleem-Raees and Khaliq-Ozair Pairs.

Naeem-Khalid eventually scored 66.71 percent for the prime spote.

From the north-South direction the established pair of Candyland, Hasan Askari-Khalid Mohiuddin topped giving excellent display of their bidding and dummy play. The winning pair scored 66 percent, their nearival Tariq Rasheed Khan-Zaman Azwer scored 60 percent for the second berth.

It was another exciting evening at Karachi Club when 26 pairs responded to compete the title for their monthly Pairs bridge Tournament.—APP
