Poppy over 1,800 kanal destroyed

BAJAUR, April 10: The political administration of Bajaur Agency destroyed standing poppy crop over 1,800 kanal in the inaccessible areas of Salarzai and Nawagai subdivisions of the agency.

The anti-poppy operation, started two days back in the agency, was launched with the help of Bajaur levies force. The areas where the operation was conducted included, Ghar Shamozai, Amel Targhao, Paindakhel, Kamma Darra, Mor Darra of Tehsil Barang, Loigram, Mullah Sayed, Srowano areas of Salarzai subdivision and Hashim, Chaharmang, Sayeda Shah and other localities of the Nawagai subdivision.

The local growers have resisted the operation and exchanged fire with the levies force. As a result, some growers and personnel received injuries.
