SAHIWAL, April 8: Five armed men on Monday got released a handcuffed accused from the police custody near Chak 51/12-L.

A police party was taking accused Muhammad Iqbal from a local court after granting his judicial remand when armed men, including Amin, got him released and fled.

Shah Kot police have registered a case with no arrest.

STRIKE: Medical officers of the local DHQ Hospital, Government Qayyum Hospital, RHCs and BHCs on Monday observed strike to press for the acceptance of their demands.

The emergency of these hospitals however remained operative.

The doctors warned a country-wide strike if the killers of their fellow doctors were not arrested.

THEFT: Unknown thieves on Monday stole 1,500 metres of wire from electric poles near Chaks 95 and 96/6-R.

They disappeared from the scene after loading the stolen wire in a truck.

The power supply to villages was disconnected and the areas plunged into complete darkness. Wapda authorities asked the villagers to pay for the stolen wire to get their power supply restored.

Farid Town police have registered a case.
