DADU, April 6: Two persons were killed and 24 injured when a passenger bus overturned and fell into a ditch on the Indus Highway some eight kilometres away from Mehar Town on Saturday.

A Kasur-bound bus overturned and fell into a ditch at the Gul Mohammad Wah bridge after its driver lost control.

The deceased who died on the spot were identified as Mohammad Aslam, 40, and Ghulzar alias Guloo, 50, both residents of village Sada-i-Mughal, Kasur.

The injured who were taken to the Mehar Taluka Hospital included Mohammad Ramzan Arain, Waris Arain, Zulfiqar Arain, Mohammad Asghar Mughal, Abdul Qayoom, Ansari, Ilahi Bukhsh Jatt and Shahbaz Shah.

Condition of seven of them was said to be serious.

THIEF KILLED: A thief was killed in an exchange of fire with the inmates of the house he and his accomplices tried to loot in Mehar on Friday night.
