Thar faces acute water shortage

MITHI, April 3: The Taluka Council Mithi urged the government to take notice of the severity of the problem of non-availability of potable water in Thar and sanction schemes regarding tube-wells, hand pumps, small dams, and wells on a priority basis besides supplying water to more villages and towns.

Supporting the proposals moved by the council members, Doongromal, Tilokchand and Madhuri Bai, at the session held here the other day, the council passed a resolution urging the authorities concerned to sanction and install hand pumps in the villages of Dhabo Nijar, Godhio, Saan, Unri, Samaro, Jarunbhri, Mithrio Gul, Nuhato, Phatero, Chhachhi Neat, Gorano, and Khario Ghulam Shah. Wells be dug in the villages of Mithrio Bhatti, BItri Taal, Mokhar (for middle school), Bhounrai Juneja, Sure Ji Wandh, and Namir Ji Dhani.

Through another resolution, the taluka council demanded that the villages of Mithrio Bhatti, Pabo Taar, Kakkario, Akhoraj, Sure Jo Taar, Bhakuo, Khobar, Hathro, Taho, Bitri, Churel, and Vinjhaniari be linked to the Badin-Islamkot road.

Convener Kanjimal Rathore presided over the session.

HESCO: The residents of Sameja Mohalla, Jorou village, Mithi Taluka, demanded Hesco authorities to direct Hesco officials and the contractor concerned to install electricity poles in their locality.

Talking to a group of journalists on Tuesday, Ghulam Sameja, Basheer Ahmed, M. Manjhi and other Samejas alleged that though according to the sanctioned scheme regarding electrification of their village, the contractor had to install poles in all the localities of the village.
