SARGODHA, March 31: Traders in the local fruit and vegetable market received shock when they found fruit seller Muhammad Sharif Kamboh strangled in a godown a couple of days back.
Having seen the third murder of a fruit merchant in the locality during the last one and a half month, traders could be seen in a panic.
Meanwhile, members of his family vowed to throng streets, if the police failed to arrest the culprits.
At a meeting on Sunday, Anjuman Shaharyian Vice-President Bhai Abdul Rahman expressed concern over police inability to control the crime. Kamboh was his relative and a gentleman, he said, adding the police were speaking ill of him to divert the attention of the public.
Due to the negligence of the Sargodha police, he complained life inside and away from home had become insecure. The behaviour of the police was aggressive towards citizens, he alleged.
Apropos of growing lawlessness, district council in a meeting urged the police to perform its duties diligently and with honesty.
Naib Nazim Mian Mazhar Qureshi assured the present company that he would call police DIG Chaudhry Aftab Sultan and SSP Dr Arif Mushtaq in a meeting to meet public grievances.
It was alleged the police refrained the Nazims of various union councils from meeting the Punjab governor during his recent visit of Sillanwali and allowed their favourites to meet him.
