TOBA TEK SINGH, March 27: There are five district and deputy district education officers posts lying vacant in the district as a result of which teachers had to face a lot of problems.
A source said here on Wednesday that district education officer (secondary) Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif had retired from service on January 24, 2001. Since then the post of DEO was lying vacant.
He said DEO (female) Mrs Afzal Bano, Toba Tek Singh DDEO Mrs Sikandar Perveen, Kamalia DDEO Faqeer Muhammad Mansoor and DDEO (female) Mrs Kalsoom Akhtar had also been retired during last year and no replacement was given.
JAMAAT MOOT: Jamaat-i-Islami’s Punjab amir Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, general secretary Azhar Iqbal Hasan and Prof Gohar Siddiqui will reach here on Friday.
They will address a one-day “Paigham Islam Conference” in Jamia Masjid Burhan, Garden Town.
NON-MUSLIM SEATS: Human Development Centre director Father Bonnie Mendes has demanded that seats for minorities be reserved and increased in the assemblies like seats reserved for women and technocrats.
In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, he said representation should also be given to them in the senate.
Father Mendes demanded that political parties should be bound to award tickets to the representatives of minorities to contest elections on the general seats.
