Three killed, 11 hurt on road

SAHIWAL, March 20: Three people were killed while 11 sustained injuries in different road accidents on Wednesday.

The wagon overturned near Chak 315-EB, Burewala Road. Two passengers Sarfraz and Binyamin died on the spot while eight others sustained injuries. Of those, Ijaz Ahmad, Shakil and Waheeda were admitted to -hospital in precarious condition.

A car collided with a truck on Sahiwal-Faisalabad Road near Ratti Tibbi village. Car occupants ex-MPA Mushtaq and his sons, Luqman and Riaz, were injured.

LOOTED: Robbers late Tuesday made off with cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in different parts of the district.

Some robbers stormed into contractor Muhammad Husain’s house on Karbala Road, held up the inmates and bagged cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs245,000. They drove away with the motorbike (SLF-4950).

At least 10 armed men took away some cattle worth Rs270,000 from Mubarak Ali’s house in Chak 148/9-L. They injured Yousaf, Qamar Abbas and Abdul Rauf on resistance.

Dera Rahim and Fatehsher police have registered cases under section 395 and 392 PPC with no arrest so far.

CASE: A local police team on Wednesday registered a case against a councillor, his brother and an inspector of Excise and Taxation for transfer of a motorcycle on fake documents.

According to details, councillor Basharat Ali, his brother Ziarat Khan of Chak 134/9-L and Excise Inspector Ishtiaq Ahmad got the documents of Asif Khan Lodhi’s bike transferred on their name with fake documents.

On the complaint of Asif, the police have registered the case under section 420, 468 and 471 PPC.

HARD JAIL: District and Sessions Judge Ali Hassan Rizvi on Wednesday awarded 23-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs30,000 to a farmer in a murder case.

Convict Bashir Ahmad will have to undergo term for another six months if he fails to submit fine.

The prosecution said Ahmad killed his neighbour Muhammad Ali over children’s quarrel in Chak 73/5-L on July 24, 2000.

The Burjwala police had registered the case under section 302 PPC.
