KARACHI, June 5: The Balochistan National Party (Awami) on Wednesday announced its decision to leave the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) and join the National Alliance.

This was stated by president BNP (Awami), Mir Mohim Khan Baloch, after a meeting with chairman National Alliance, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, in Karachi on Wednesday.

Addressing a joint press conference later, Mr Jatoi and Mr Mohim Baloch expressed the confidence that the National Alliance would win the elections to be held in October next in the country and form a government.

Mr Jatoi welcomed the BNP into the Alliance and was confident that more parties would join it soon.

He said the Alliance was formed in order to provide leadership to the masses for solving their problems.

Answering a question the chairman National Alliance said the concurrent list should be abolished and its subjects transferred to the provinces, retaining the minimum to the Centre.

Mr Mohim Baloch said the top leadership of the Alliance realized the problems facing the people across the country and was committed to solving them. He felt the Alliance would provide political stability.

“We will contest polls in Balochistan as a component party of the Alliance and win them. We are confident the Alliance would emerge victorious in the elections and form a stable government”, he stated.
