GUJRAT, March 15: Residents of Islampura, Lalamusa, have threatened to protest against the indifferent attitude of Saddar police for not registering a case against office bearers of a mosque.

Over 100 residents, who met this correspondent outside the police station on Thursday night, alleged the management of Jamia Noori mosque had been embezzling the amount since 1988.

The area people had submitted a written application to the Gujranwala range DIG who ordered a probe into the matter. The inquiry report revealed that four office bearers, including president Muhammad Hussain, vice-president Aslam, secretary-general Rafique and cashier Muhammad Boota, had constituted a mosque committee 15 years ago by furnishing ID cards of the area people fraudulently.

It further gave out that the management was involved in financial corruption and any untoward incident could be occurred due to the disputed matter.

The area people alleged that Saddar SHO and DSP headquarters were allegedly patronizing the management due to political influence of the committee president who was also a councillor.
