KARACHI, March 10: Despite monetary constraints, the Pakistan Navy is investing a substantial amount of money on the training of sailors, besides making all possible efforts for the welfare of its personnel.

This was stated by Rear Admiral Ahmad Hayat, Chairman, Karachi Port Trust, at the passing out parade of D. batch of new entry sailors at the PNS Himalaya here on Sunday.

He said the nation had entrusted them with the sacred responsibility of defending the sea frontiers of the motherland. He expressed confidence that the sailors would come up to the expectations of the nation.

The KPT chairman appreciated the devotion of the sailors under the prevailing stressful conditions. “It reflects the highest standard of training in the unit, which prepared you for these arduous tasks in such a short span of time,” he remarked.

Captain Muhammad Aslam, Commanding Officer PNS Himalaya, highlighted the salient features of the sailors’ training.

Later, the chief guest gave away prizes to the winners. Abdul Shakoor was awarded Comkar Gold Medal for his best all-round performance. Shah Nawaz was declared the best Tech U/T, whereas best non-tech U/T award went to Muhammad Hussain. Tahir Chaudhry and Khurram Ali Raza were proclaimed the best in sports and academics respectively. Tariq Division received the proficiency banner.—PPI
