KARACHI, June 5: Five ships carrying containers and chemicals are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to information available from the Karachi Port Trust.
Berth occupancy at the oil piers was maintained on the higher side thanks to steady arrivals of tankers, but it fell to only six per cent at the dry wharves.
Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where three ships, Bunga Mastiga, Kota Sejarah and APL Mexico were berthed to unload and load containers after the sailing of four.
The ships, which departed included Katherin Sif, Dainty River, Kota Sejarah and Bunga Mastiga, while Sea Splendor, A.P.L. Mexico, Al-Mariyah and Jamila are due to sail out on Thursday.
Owing to larger handling of liquid tonnage, the total rose to 98,801 tons comprising 34,965 tons of export cargo including 25,500 tons of molasses and 63,836 tons of import cargo.
The following ships are due on Thursday: Lanka Mahapola, Saf Marine Ruvu, Global Prosperity, with containers, Koriana, with gas oil and Chem Bothnia, with 3,000 tons of chemicals.
