KARACHI, June 5: Pakistani trade delegation has secured export orders worth $1 million from Vietnam and Philippines, while negotiations for $5 million exports are under process.

Similarly, the delegation has succeeded in striking deal for the export of sizable quantity of Pakistani leather. According to the Export Promotion Bureau, Pakistan would export marble and onyx for the first time to these countries.

A six-member delegation representing leather, textile, yarn, marble and furniture sectors visited several cities in Vietnam and Philippines from May 11 to 22, to explore export potential to these markets.

The delegation sold goods, including textile made-ups, leather, yarn, marble onyx, fabrics and furniture worth $1 million on the spot.

The Philippines International Trading Corporation, Philippines Footwear Corporation and Vietnam National Leather and Footwear Corporation have agreed to import sizable quantity of leather from Pakistan, which earlier was being imported from other countries.

Pakistan’s share in Vietnam and the Philippines markets is very small and there is a great potential for increasing this share.

The delegation had visited the ministry of foreign trade of both the countries.
