ISLAMABAD, March 4: A moderate intensity earthquake hit Pakistan early on Monday, less than a day after powerful tremors originating in Afghanistan rocked the country and other parts of Central and South Asia, an official said.
The quake, measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale, originated at 2.03am with its epicentre believed to be in arid region of Baluchistan, said an official at the Seismic Centre in Peshawar.
There were no reports of deaths, injuries or damage, he added. A force 5 earthquake can be powerful enough to cause heavy damage in a populated area. —Reuters
