SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 20: A woman and her two sons were slaughtered early Wednesday morning by unidentified assailants in Bhutto Colony near Morr Joyanwala on the Lahore Road, some eight kilometres from here.

Assailants sneaked into the house of Gulfraz Khan of Haripur who was on night duty in the Max Food Industry at the time of a gory incident. The intruders slaughtered his wife Nadia Bibi (29), two sons — Tabish (6) and Osama (2). The bodies were spotted by a neighbour woman. The motive behind the incident could not be ascertained. The bodies were shifted to the city mortuary for autopsy.

Saddar police have launched a hunt for the killers.

They were shifted to unknown place for interrogation.

Police however failed to find any clue to dacoits who had sustained injuries when deceased constable Shahid Riaz resorted to firing on resistance.

It is pertinent to mention that it was the third bloody incident on the same spot.

Unidentified robbers had gunned down constable Zulfiqar of Ajnianwala check post some time back.

Similarly, truck conductor Afzal was shot dead by unidentified outlaws in a robbery bid a few days ago.

The increasing lawlessness has forced the commuters to abandon journey after sun set.

Area people have asked the Punjab police chief to direct the district police chief to control the deteriorating law and order situation.
