JAMMU, Jan 25: The Indian army on Friday claimed killing eight Pakistani soldiers and destroying 10 bunkers in an exchange of fire across the Line of Control (LoC).

An army spokesman said: “In retaliatory action against unprovoked firing from Pakistani army posts and bunkers, the Indian army carried out engagement and destroyed 10 such bunkers, killing eight Pakistani soldiers.”

The spokesman added that mortar shelling by Pakistan on Indian posts and villages began on Friday morning in the Naushera sector, 140 kilometres northwest of occupied Jammu.

India “retaliated” the fire in the evening, he said.—AFP
