PESHAWAR, Dec 12: The district Nazim, Swat, Dr Mehboobur Rehman, on Wednesday directed the concerned authorities to start work on developmental schemes of Rs2 million in every union council in the district.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of the district heads of Provincial, Federal and District Government Departments at the office of the EDO Finance Department, Swat.

He advised that small developmental schemes for provision of potable water, construction and repair of roads and streets should be identified in all the union councils of the district.

Mr Rehman directed the concerned authorities to restart the 34 tube-wells constructed to provide drinking water, which were closed due to non-payment of electricity charges.

He regretted the inefficiency of the District Education Department and said Rs600 million were being spent over the salaries and other expenditures of the employees of the education department.

The district Nazim also directed the concerned official of the telephone department to provide maximum facilities to the people and carry out a survey for the installation of digital telephone exchanges in village Marguzar, Kra Kar, Autror, Shawar, Miandam, Taal Dardial, Top Seen and Banjot.—APP
