44 prisoners released in Kohat

KOHAT, Nov 26: The civil judge-cum-judicial magistrate, Safiullah Jan, who visited central prison here on Monday, ordered the release of 44 prisoners involved in cases of small offences.

The judge inspected the record of the cases of all the prisoners on the order of the district and sessions judge Saleem Khan Minakhel and released these prisoners.

He also directed the prosecution sub-inspector that the challans of other prisoners be prepared at the earliest and present them in the court.

FOILED:The Kohat police foiled an attempt to smuggle charas and opium to Punjab and arrested one person from a Mianwali-bound bus on Monday.

The narcotics were found during the checking by the staff of Gurgara Kund check post on Kohat-Punjab border. Four kilograms of charas and one kilogramme of opium were seized from Nadir Khan, resident of Qaziabada, Peshawar.
