KARACHI, Nov 25: The Sindh home department has appointed the district & sessions judge, Malir, inquiry officer to hold inquiry into the firing incident at New Sabzimandi in which a labourer, Wilayat Khan, died and several others had been injured.

The terms of reference of the tribunal shall be to investigate and ascertain the circumstances and causes leading to the firing. He will ascertain responsibility on the involvement of police and unauthorized persons who had established their stalls illegally and threatened traders with dire consequences and demanded money from transporters to allow them to enter the Sabzimandi, fix responsibility.

The inquiry officer will submit his report within four weeks to the home department.—APP
