Shafqat refuses selection job

Published October 15, 2006

LAHORE, Oct 14: Former Test cricketer Shafqat Rana refused to be part of the selection committee which conducted the Lahore region trials on Saturday to select three teams for the forthcoming Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-I and II cricket tournaments.

The two-day trials started at the National Cricket Academy on Saturday.

Shafqat Rana’s name was recommended as selector alongwith that of Aamir Sohail by the Lahore City Cricket Association while Ehteshamuddin was appointed as the chief selector by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

However, Shafqat refused to accept the assignment because he did not want to work under Ehtesham-ud-Din who is much junior to him. 150 probables appeared in the trials.
